XP-8000 Expansion I/O
Expansion Options for XP Embedded 2009 Controller

XP-8000 is equipped with two RS-485 COM ports which enable the transmission rate up to a maximum of 115.2 Kbps. The medium for connection is a twisted-pair, multi-drop, 2-wire RS-485 network that can link I-7000, M-7000, RU-87Pn and high profile I-87K modules. The available Ethernet I/O devices are ET-6000, ET-7000, I-8KE4/8 and I-8KE4/8-MTCP. XP-8000 can access them with Modbus/TCP or DCON protocol.

Cognex Smartview

Cognex Control Story When Cognex needed a configurable, reliable control system for sequencing the movement of that light beam, they researched many different options.

We looked at PCs, PLCs, custom logic, and a number of other solutions, said Jeff Wolinsky, Senior Engineer for SISD. The ICP DAS I-7000 family is a perfect match for our needs.

The I-7188EX controller is easy to program and configure. The controller’s rapid startup (boot) time is ideal for a standalone control system. Its simple serial port connections enable our inspection system to monitor the controller's status and also upload new code to enhance functionality.

The I-7000 family I/O modules were easy to interface with our various buttons, switches, position I-7000 sensors, and pneumatic valves. Overall, the ICP DAS I-7000 family’s flexibility, reliability, and ICP DAS I-7000 compactness made it the clear choice for Cognex.

Runaway Train Safety Application

Track Control Story Saltec SA is an international leader in large scale surveying equipment. They implemented our I-7188XGD modules to control railway safety functions for the Altamira iron ore mining facility’s ore transport system in southern Chile.

Saltec chose to implement a series of ICP DAS I-7188XGD ISaGRAF powered embedded controllers. By using ICP’s I-7188XGD modules, Saltec is able to monitor and control an emergency "run-away track", in the event of a brake failure of any of the facility’s locomotives.

Saltec was elated with ICP’s abilities to produce a product which was able to withstand the harsh exposure of the elements, while offering phenomenal control and reliability in a PLC. Being that the I-7188 series embedded controllers are rated to operate between -25ºC and 75ºC, they are able to withstand the ever-changing ecosystem of southern Chile.

Automated Assembly Machines

Automated Assembly Machine Automated assembly machines have become a crucial element in ensuring high tolerances and low margins of error in high precision processes due to the constant evolution in industrial chipset manufacturing. Chip sets are getting smaller and more complex by the second. Manufacturing tolerances have become exceedingly tight, requiring manufacturers to implement precision assembly devices to carry out finalization.

The PAC needed to be capable of precise 4-axis motion control, while simultaneously performing a bevy of real-time data acquisition functions, to ensure that the assembly process was in sync with a multitude of external procedures all being performed concurrently. The PAC also needed to function as a local and remote HMI point for users to locally access production information, or to remotely analyze daily productivity.

ICP DAS proudly chose the W-8731 WinCON Programmable Automation Controller to handly every aspect of the application. Our I-8094 provided 4-axis motion control. 2 of our I-8050 universal digital input/output modules provide data acquisition capabilities.

ICP DAS Motion Control Application

Motion Control ApplicationAn OEM Customer approached ICP DAS with the need of a 20-Axis Motion Control System, with 250+ I/O Points . The customer stressed that reliability and precise control were the main attributes needed for a successful integration. ICP DAS chose to integrate a multifaceted approach; allowing robust and reliable control, and environmental resilience contained in a user friendly platform.

ICP DAS decided to implement I-8094: High Speed, 4 Axis Stepping / Pulse type Servo Motor Control Module; their newest motion control module beause motion control was the most pertinent element of the application. It can be used in conjunction with any of the ICP DAS I- 8000, Wincon, and Lincon series programmable automation controllers, and is suitable for almost any motion control application.

ICP DAS drastically cut down the amount of devices needed to perform the full 20-axis motion control by implementing the I-8094 Motion Controller. With just five I-8094 modules installed, all 20 axes were capable of independent control, while maintaining a compact, modular footprint.

ICP DAS used the I-8430 rack mount PLC controller to not only house the motion control modules, but also handle embedded control and high speed digital data acquisition. With a robust controller in place, ICP DAS chose to implement their new line of FRnet products to handle the requirement for the high speed digital signals. FR-net is an innovative industrial field bus, capable of high speed deterministic control, real I/O synchronization, non-protocol communication, and much more. By implementing the FR-net I/O infrastructure, ICP DAS enabled transfer speeds of up to 250 kbps per 2.88ms; thus offering superior high speed data analysis.

Simplified Data Voyage Recorder System

Voyage Data RecorderThe Simplified Voyage Data Recorder is a programmable controller that works as a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver. It is equipped with an external antenna, and will receive GPS satellite signals. A built-in decoder converts the signals into position, velocity, and time estimates. Processed information such as date, time, speed and position, etc, will be kept inside the receiver on 8M bytes (or greater) flash memory (allows storage of more than 100,000 records). Temperature Inspection System

 

There are many reasons could cause great damage in a running train. For example, the over heated train shaft would cause serious harm.  For security reason, Train Shaft Temperature Inspection System is developed by ICP DAS.  We placed infrared temperature sensors around shafts, and these sensors are connected to G-4500 series (M2M Mini-Programmable Automation Control). G-4500 controller will transmit data via GPRS service to Internet back to control center in real-time.  With the shaft temperature system, control center would notice over heated shaft easily and send alarm message to train immediately in order to avoid the danger situation.

Street Lamp Monitoring System

 

ICP DAS has developed and deployed an effective solution for the purpose of remote monitoring of street lamp.  In each control boxes of street lamp, we placed a WinPAC (Windows CE embedded Programmable Automation Controller) and I/O Modules to acquire data from control box.  All data will be transmitted back to control center in real-time by using GTM-201-USB (Industrial Quad-band GPRS/GSM Modem).  With the Street Lamp Monitor System, it is possible to maintaining and monitoring each street lamp instantaneously.

Vending/Gaming Machine Monitor

 

Generally, the vending machines or gaming machine are spreading out in many locations.  To maintain each machine would cost great time and labor. ICP DAS invents a Gaming / Vending Machine Monitor and Report System to undo the problem of machine maintaining.  Each machine has a GT-530 or GT-534 (Intelligent SMS/GSM Alarm Controller) inside itself.  Once the specific circumstances occurred (for example, vending machine ran out of drink), GT-530/GT-534 will automatically send either SMS or voice message to users in program list.  After user receives message from controller, user can send some one over to solve the problem.

Factory Wireless Solution

 

ZB Series is the newest ZigBee Network converters and I/O modules. ZB Series is not only complies with the RoHS Directive but also conforms with IEEE802.15.4 wireless communication standard. Through ZB-2570 (Master) and ZB-2571 (Slave), users may easily build a wireless RS-232/RS485/Ethernet network in a most efficient way. It supports ad-hoc, stat, and mesh network topology, and coexist with 65535 nodes. The communication distance is up to 100 meters (700 meters with enhanced antenna). In some existing systems that use a RS-485/RS-232 network, it is sometimes difficult to extend the new devices due to building structure issues, wiring problems or other reasons. The ZB series can be easily added to an existing system in order to extend your network.

The mini-style G-4500 series is a compact programmable automation controller with a GPRS/GSM antenna built-in. By using G-4500 series, user can easily acquire data from any site without wiring limitation. G-4500 can also combine with a GPS module which allows user to monitor the location of moving transportations. To replace the G-4500 on a vehicle or ship, users not only monitor its position but also manage the oil consumption.
